Canada’s Abcourt Mines Inc. achieved a breakthrough with the first gold pour at its Sleeping Giant mine, located in the Eeyou Istchee region of Quebec. A new production cycle at Sleeping Giant mine
Smelting of the first ingot took place on September 11, 2025, just two months after rehabilitation work began. Sleeping Giant, which produced more than one million ounces of gold between 1987 and 2014, is once again operating under the management of Abcourt, which also controls the Flordin mill and property.

Future plans and prospects
The company plans to begin delivering gold bars to market in a favorable price environment. The project currently hosts approximately 173,330 ounces in measured and indicated resources and 248,300 ounces in inferred resources, reinforcing its medium-term potential.
Pascal Hamelin, Abcourt’s President and CEO, noted that this milestone reflects the team’s efficiency and opens a new chapter for their Abitibi operations. The announcement also comes just ahead of their participation in the Mining Forum Americas 2025 in Colorado Springs, where they will be presenting to the mining investment community.
With the mine reactivated and a functional mill, Abcourt is consolidating its presence in one of Canada’s most active gold regions. Its strategy is aimed at strengthening the resource base and optimizing processing capacity, currently operating at 50% of its potential.
