At a ceremony scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, NASA will unveil the members of its new class of astronaut candidates, selected from a pool of more than 8,000 applicants.

After nearly two years of rigorous training, these future explorers will be ready for upcoming missions to low Earth orbit, the Moon and even beyond to the planet Mars. This event is pivotal to the space agency’s ongoing space agencys continuing effort to ensure the future of human space exploration.
The agency has also scheduled briefings for September 23 and 24, focusing on Artemis II. This test flight will take astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen on a ten-day trip around the Moon. It was launched on the Space Launch System(SLS) rocket with the Orion spacecraftThe mission is intended to test systems and hardware for future manned missions to the lunar surface.
Information about these events will be available on NASA’s digital platforms, including NASA+, its YouTube channel, and X account. An invitation has been extended to the media to cover the announcements in person and to conduct interviews with the new Artemis II astronaut candidates and crew.
