In the offshore drilling industry, reducing operational downtime is crucial. For the Noble Regina Allen jack-up rig owned by Noble Corporation, Mammoet deployed its innovative Mega Jack 5200 system as a core solution to streamline the repair and modernisation process, at the request of Damen Shiprepair.
The repair required an advanced lifting technique that could support the 22,000-ton platform , lifting it safely and accurately. The Mega Jack 5200, designed by Mammoet for large-scale jobs, stood out as the best option against other alternatives.
This lifting system, consisting of six towers with an individual capacity of 5,200 tons, made it possible to lift the platform up to 35 meters , enough to carry out repairs from the base with a practical and safe approach.

According to Ruud Jansen, the company’s sales director, the Mega Jack 5200 was selected for its rapid assembly capabilities and flexibility to adapt to the project environment, reducing set-up time and ensuring agile execution .

The damaged section of the 70-metre-high platform leg was split into two parts and placed under the elevated structure using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT). This operation enabled the sections to be assembled and welded quickly, restoring the platform’s functionality.
In a record time of three months, this system enabled the repair to be completed , minimising the downtime of the Noble Regina Allen . Both companies demonstrated how advanced lifting solutions can optimise maintenance on drilling platforms, achieving a rapid return to operations and showcasing the efficiency of cutting-edge technologies in the maritime industry.
