Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) and MaDfly have marked a significant advance in underwater inspections by deploying a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) in open waters. This operation took place aboard the service operations vessel (SOV) ” Wind of Hope ” near the Hornsea 2 wind farm in England.
This marks a major step forward in the development of underwater robotic inspection technologies.

[post_relacionado]The in-water survey was conducted by an expert team from MaDfly, under the supervision of the classification society Bureau Veritas . What’s remarkable about this operation is that it was carried out entirely at sea, without the ship having to interrupt operations or return to port.
Despite the challenging marine conditions, with waves up to two meters high, ROV technology enabled the task to be completed efficiently and with high-quality results.
This approach offers multiple benefits compared to traditional methods. First, safety is improved, as it eliminates the need for divers to work in adverse conditions. Furthermore, efficiency is reflected in a significant reduction in costs, as operations driven by this technological innovation have cut costs in half.
