This year, Norway’s Ullevaal stadium set a record by hosting the world’s largest vertical rooftop solar installation, implemented by Solenergi FUSen. With a capacity of 248.4 kWp, this installation stands at the pinnacle of solar innovations, standing out as the largest of its kind globally.
The project was completed in a matter of days, taking advantage of the existing bitumen structure on the roof of the stadium, which allowed for a quick and efficient mechanical installation.

[post_relacionado]The installation, consisting of 1,242 solar panels 200 Wp bifacial panels, is designed to capture as much sunlight as possible and is estimated to produce around 219,000 kWh of clean energy each year. This significant amount of renewable energy not only reduces the stadium’s carbon footprint, but also sets a new standard in energy efficiency for sports facilities.

In addition, previous analyses of the Over Easy Solar project reveal that vertical solar panels can outperform traditional flat roof solutions by 20% to 30%. This specific installation oriented on a south-north axis (20 degrees east of south) maximizes energy generation. power generation during the winter months, benefiting from the reduced snow cover and the reflection of sunlight off the snow, which increases output.
Other benefits are also highlighted, such as the low weight of the installation and the ease of access for inspections and repairs of the roof membrane.
This ambitious project not only sets a new world record, but also makes it clear that innovation in solar technology will continue to evolve. While this record is impressive, continued progress in the field suggests that new installations may soon surpass it.
