ILUNION has purchased a plot of land measuring over 26,400 square meters in the Boecillo Technology Park in Valladolid. On this site, the company plans to build a pioneering lithium battery recycling plant in Spain, with the capacity to process up to 6,000 tons of batteries per year.

The plant will be managed as a Special Employment Center ( SEC ), ensuring that more than 70% of the workforce is made up of people with disabilities. With the creation of 40 direct jobs, this initiative will contribute to the economic revitalization of the region and support the creation of green, qualified, and inclusive employment.
[post_relacionado]The recycling process that ILUNION Economía Circular will implement, through hydrometallurgy , where components of lithium batteries , especially lithium iron phosphate ( LFP ), will be extracted to reintroduce them into the production cycle.
This process ensures that recovered materials are efficiently reused, helping to reduce dependence on imported materials and improving recycling capacity in Europe.
Furthermore, this project is a collaboration with EFT-Systems and Botree , which will position Valladolid as a European leader in the management of waste and recyclable materials from electric vehicles.
If the waste generated by electric vehicles is not properly managed and most of their materials are recovered, it is not truly sustainable.
