Eni and MSC have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that records the beginning of a joint commitment towards energy sustainability and the decarbonisation of maritime operations in the coming years.

The agreement between Eni and MSC is designed to expand the existing synergies between both companies, focusing on clean energy solutions for maritime transport. This memorandum aims to improve the logistics operations of MSC and its cruise fleets, through the use of sustainable biofuels, such as HVO and LNG , as well as its variant, bio-LNG .
[post_relacionado]The agreement includes the evaluation and use of lubricants derived from renewable raw materials, which will enable MSC vessels to operate more efficiently and reduce their environmental impact. In addition, renewable energy solutions will be assessed for MSC sites and facilities, contributing to its decarbonisation and energy transition goals.
The use of biofuel storage and transport will also be evaluated, using a combination of maritime, rail and road transport. This approach will facilitate a more efficient and less polluting system for distribution, optimizing logistics operations.
The agreement also includes joint research and development initiatives that will include projects to explore new technologies to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in MSC’s fleets.
