Energy Transfer LP announced the final investment decision ( FID ) for the development of the Hugh Brinson pipeline, a project designed to enhance the transportation capacity of natural gas from the Permian Basin to important markets in Texas and beyond.
The phases of construction of the Hugh Brinson pipeline
The pipeline, formerly known as the Warrior Pipeline , will be built in two phases. Phase I will include 400 miles of 42-inch pipeline capable of transporting 1.5 billion cubic feet per day ( Bcf/d ) of gas. This phase will connect Waha to Maypearl, Texas, south of Dallas/Ft. Worth, integrating with Energy Transfer’s pipeline network. This phase is also anticipated to be operational by the end of 2026.
[post_relacionado]Additionally, Phase I includes the Midland Lateral, a 42-mile, 36-inch pipeline that will link to processing plants in Martin and Midland counties. Phase II will increase the pipeline’s capacity to 2.2 Bcf/d through the installation of compressors, depending on demand.
With a total investment estimated at $2.7 billion, the project is supported by long-term agreements with high-credit counterparties. This new infrastructure will allow shippers to access prolific markets such as Carthage and Katy, improving the distribution and storage of natural gas in Texas.
