The construction of the new battery gigafactory in Navalmoral de la Mata, Cáceres, has begun with an investment of around 1 billion euros. At the inauguration ceremony, Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government, highlighted the importance of this plant for the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Extremadura. This project, known as Venergy+, will start with a production capacity of 10 GWh and is expected to reach 30 GWh.
Impact and opportunities of the battery gigafactory
Pedro Sánchez stressed that the gigafactory will have a transformative impact, attracting more companies in the sector and contributing significantly to job creation, with 900 jobs in its first phase. He also emphasized the importance of this initiative for Spain’s ecological transition, mentioning that it represents tangible proof of the opportunities that this transition can offer the country.

The factory will require the hiring of approximately 800 technicians specialized in various areas of professional training, such as industrial mechatronics, industrial automation and robotics, electrotechnical and automated systems, and production programming in mechanical manufacturing.
The batteries produced will be adaptable to a variety of vehicles, including heavy trucks, vans vans, vans, electric vehicles for last-mile delivery and light electric two-wheelers. Venergy+ has the collaboration of 12 partners and 16 main projects spread over 10 autonomous communities in Spain.
