The company Cemvita has unveiled technologies behind its microbial waste-to-oil process, achieving efficiencies that enable the production of up to 500 barrels per day of sustainable oil at its first commercial plant, a goal it hoped to reach by 2029.

This achievement is due in part to adaptive evolutionary improvements in its state-of-the-art microorganisms. In addition, reactor optimization has increased oil extraction efficiency by at least 330%.

Phil Garcia, recently promoted to Vice President of Commercialization, joined Cemvita last year, leading the company’s commercialization efforts.
