The construction contract was awarded to Tecnimont SpA (MAIRE Group) by Fertiglobe, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and GS Energy Corporation, all partners of TA’ZIZ. The first phase of TA’ZIZ focuses on the local production of six chemicals: ammonia, methanol, ethylene dichloride, polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride monomer and caustic soda. This base will enable the manufacture of hundreds of new end products in the UAE for the first time, unlocking further opportunities for diversification and industrialization in the country.
This phase is expected to generate a multi-billion dollar investment in the country’s GDP and create thousands of jobs over the next two decades. TA’ZIZ has a mandate to position the UAE as a global leader in chemicals and has already begun design for a future expansion that will double its Phase 1 production capacity and increase its focus on decarbonization through clean energy and carbon capture.
