Q ENERGY has closed the financing of its first portfolio as an independent power producer (IPP) in the Iberian Peninsula, consolidating its presence in the Spanish renewable energy sector. The agreement, called “Taurus B”, contemplates the construction of seven solar photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 251.71 MWp and integrated with battery systems for energy storage (BESS).BESS).

The plants are distributed in three key regions: Extremadura, Castilla y León and Seville, which allows for natural diversification in the face of weather and technical variations. The portfolio is structured under a non-recourse financing model with cross-guarantees, which optimizes access to debt through a maxi-perm strategy.

One of the pillars of the project is the signing of ten-year fixed-profile PPA contracts, which guarantee income even in scenarios of zero or negative prices in the electricity market. This strategy seeks to shield the profitability of the plants in the event of technical restrictions or curtailments.
Components of the Taurus B portfolio
- Brovales (Extremadura): 52 MWp. Almost ready to go into operation. Capable of supplying 27,000 homes and avoiding 23,000 tons of CO2 per year.
- Carmona (Seville): Three plants with a total of 105 MWp and a 25 MW BESS system. Expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2026.
- Zaratan (Castilla y León): Three contiguous facilities totaling 94.71 MWp, with storage of 75 MW. Completion scheduled for the end of 2026.
Q ENERGY will act as owner, EPC and O&M contractor for all assets, which strengthens its operational and financial control.
The project represents sufficient capacity to power 131,000 homes and avoid more than 93,000 tons ofCO2 emissions annually. With a European portfolio under development of 8.5 GW, the company is accelerating its deployment of integrated green solutions in southern Europe.
