Avangrid, a U.S. subsidiary of the Iberdrola group, has signed a power purchase and sale long-term power purchase agreement with SmartestEnergy with SmartestEnergy, consolidating a new alliance in the U.S. market. The agreement includes the total supply of energy from the Lempster and Groton wind farms, located in the state of New Hampshire, with a combined capacity of 72 megawatts (MW).
Lempster and Groton
The Lempster wind farm, located in Sullivan County, was the first of its kind on a commercial scale in New Hampshire when it began operations in 2008. It has an installed capacity of 24 MW.
[post_relacionado]The Groton facility, in Grafton County, came on line in 2012 and contributes 48 MW to the regional power system. Both facilities are part of Avangrid’s portfolio of renewable assets in operation in the United States.
A strategic alliance in wind energy
With this agreement, SmartestEnergy acquires 100% of the wind generation of both facilities, reinforcing its commitment to providing sustainable solutions for businesses. This contract marks the first agreement of its kind between the two companies, laying the groundwork for future collaborations in the U.S. energy market.
Avangrid currently operates in 23 states and manages more than 80 renewable energy projects, with a total capacity exceeding 10,500 MW. This new partnership with SmartestEnergy is aligned with its growth strategy in the North American market, focused on clean energy projects long-term clean energy projects.
Future outlook for the wind energy sector
The signing of PPA contracts such as this one represents an effective way to guarantee revenue stability for project developers and strengthen sustainable supply for corporate clients.
