Karadeniz LNGTS Americas joins Karpowership’s fleet of floating LNG terminals, marking a new development in the global expansion of floating energy solutions. The announcement was made at a ceremony where Karpowership and Seatrium also signed a letter of intent to develop new generation vessels that integrate modular technology and carbon capture systems.
LNGTS Americas and its floating energy capabilities
With the integration of Karadeniz LNGTS Americas, the Turkish company Karpowership expands its fleet dedicated to the conversion of natural gas into electricity. These LNGTS units make it possible to supply energy directly from the sea to regions without land-based infrastructure, thanks to their integration with the Powerships.
[post_relacionado]The agreement with Seatrium provides for the conversion of three new LNGTS units, adapted with modular design and ready to incorporate technologies such as advanced turbines and CCUS systems. This approach will enable the company to meet specific project needs in challenging environments, ensuring an agile response to global energy demand.
Karpowership currently operates 50 Powerships and 11 LNG units, contributing 1% of the world’s gas-to-energy capacity. The company plans to reach 2% in the next ten years, with an active presence in countries such as Brazil and Senegal, the latter being a pioneer in Africa in this type of infrastructure.
Seatrium highlighted the importance of this alliance to accelerate the energy transition. Its experience in offshore engineering allows the development of robust floating platforms, capable of integrating with mobile energy solutions such as Karpowership, generating a fast, clean and adaptable deployment model.
