Vaulted Deep has entered into a strategic agreement with Microsoft to permanently remove carbon through advanced organic waste management. Over the next 12 years, the company will deliver up to 4.9 million tons of durable removal of carbon dioxide using its deep injection infrastructure in secure geological formations in the United States.

This agreement will enable Vaulted Deep to expand its national presence by managing waste containing atmospheric CO₂ from municipalities, industrial sectors and farms, including paper sludge, manure and difficult-to-treat food waste. Thanks to its technology licensed since 2008, it ensures safe and permanent carbon storage while reducing methane emissions and protecting local ecosystems.

This agreement illustrates a shift in the industry from pilot technologies to existing, scalable infrastructures that deliver concrete environmental and social benefits.
Vaulted Deep already operates in places like Los Angeles, where it manages 20% of the city’s biosolids, and Derby, Kansas, where it manages 75% of the biosolids in partnership with local farmers, mitigating runoff and odor problems. In the Great Plains, its plant has created sustainable jobs and more than $5 million in regional investment in its first 18 months of operation.
With over one billion tons of surplus organic waste per year in the U.S., Vaulted Deep is actively seeking new partners across multiple industries to transform this difficult-to-manage waste into a scalable and safe climate solution.
