Greenville, South Carolina, will become the global epicenter of manufacturing engineering June 23-27, 2025. On those dates, the Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference (MSEC 2025), organized by the Manufacturing Engineering Division (MED) of ASME and academically supported by Clemson University.
MSEC 2025: A technical event with an academic focus
MSEC 2025 is positioned as the continent’s most important forum for advanced manufacturing research. More than 500 professionals and academics are expected to participate, who will be able to attend more than 250 technical presentations distributed in various parallel sessions. There will also be panel discussions, poster sessions, workshops and spaces for early stage researchers.

Artificial intelligence, sustainability and smart manufacturing
Among the fastest growing topics is the use of explainable artificial intelligence for monitoring and prediction in production systems. Several sessions will be devoted to practical applications of machine learning, data analysis in biotechnology and simulations in process design. Discussions on sustainability strategies applied to the manufacturing industry will also take place.
Energy challenges will be addressed through presentations on new production methods for electric mobility components and energy storage. These topics reinforce MSEC’s role as a platform for updating on trends that are shaping the industrial future.

More than 80 students from U.S. universities will have a prominent space to present their progress and connect with industry leaders. The student manufacturing design competition and the doctoral symposium will be key to showcasing emerging talent and fostering academic partnerships.

Since 2011, MSEC has been co-located with NAMRI/SME’s NAMRC conference, cementing it as the largest advanced manufacturing meeting in North America. This year, the 2025 edition will not only offer cutting-edge visions, but will serve as a meeting point for those who are defining what industrial processes will look like in the next decade.
