As part of the energy transition in the maritime sector, Seatrium has received approval in principle(AiP) from the American Bureau of Shipping for its 25,000 m³ ammonia bunker vessel, model SMDT 25000VX-NH3.

The vessel is designed by Seatrium Marine & Deepwater Technology, integrates a Type C containment system in accordance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations. International Maritime Organization (IMO)(IMO) and the International Gas Code(IGC). With a deadweight tonnage of 19,500 tons and a cruising speed of 14 knots, the vessel is designed to operate for up to 55 days without refueling.
[post_relacionado]On the other hand, the vessel has a bifuel engine system that allows it to alternate between ammonia and diesel, which gives it operational versatility in different routes and conditions. In addition, its safety architecture prioritizes the prevention of leaks on open deck, complying with the highest safety standards required by ABS and international regulations.
The AiP received validates the technical feasibility of the project, ensuring that it meets the regulatory and engineering requirements necessary to move forward to the detailed design and construction phases. The vessel will serve as a logistics solution for the supply of ammonia, and is a critical piece in building an efficient supply chain for alternative fuels.
