Philips goes ‘home repair’ with 3D printable parts

Philips Fixables has set a new direction in the technological repair approach. From now on, some users will be able to print certain spare parts for Philips products thanks to this initiative, developed in collaboration with Prusa Research and available from the Printables platform.

3D printable parts for repairs

The program debuts in the Czech Republic with a first part compatible with multiple models of the OneBlade trimmer: a 3 mm comb. This file is available for free download and can be printed with PLA filament without the need for additional media. This strategy aims to minimize reliance on technical services or hard-to-find spare parts.

By facilitating the home printing of accessories, Philips reduces the environmental impact associated with transporting and packaging components. This digital distribution model also promotes a tangible reduction in e-waste. electronic wasteby encouraging users to keep and repair their devices rather than discard them prematurely.
