The port of Port-la-Nouvelle has begun the deployment phase of floating wind power in the Mediterranean. This week saw the start of assembly of the first of three wind turbines for the Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion(EFGL) project.
A coordinated operation for the EFGL project
Towed from the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille, the first float arrived at the port location, coordinated by Eiffage Métal and Smulders. In the coming days, the sections that make up the turbine, such as the mast, nacelle and blades, will be assembled on the floating structure directly at the wind terminal.
[post_relacionado]Each wind turbine at the wind farm will have a capacity of 10 megawatts, making them the most powerful installed in France on floating platforms. Once assembly of the three units has been completed, they are scheduled to be transferred to the sea in June.
This project mobilizes a complex network of industrial and logistics players. The company OW Ocean Winds is coordinating the initiative, supported by Euroports in port logistics, Mammoet in lifting and transport solutions, and Vestas as the turbine manufacturer. This deployment highlights the Port of Port-la-Nouvelle’ s capacity as a strategic hub for floating renewable energies.

On the other hand, citizens have the possibility of observing, from multiple points of the city, the progress made and the assembly maneuvers of the 186-meter-high wind turbines.
