Ocean Winds has achieved a breakthrough with the installation of the first wind turbine at the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm off the Atlantic coast of France. This achievement marks the start of assembly of the 61 Siemens Gamesa Siemens Gamesa turbines turbines of 8 MW each, which are scheduled for completion between May and September 2025.
Commitment to local industry and energy transition
The EMYN project is a commitment to local industry. The turbine blades and nacelles were manufactured in Le Havre and the pre-assembly of the towers took place in the port of Saint-Nazaire. More than 50% of the suppliers are French and 95% are European.

Labor impact and prospects of the offshore wind farm
More than 1,500 direct and indirect jobs have been generated during the construction of the wind farm. Once in operation, EMYN will provide clean electricity for some 800,000 people and will generate 85 permanent jobs, of which 60 will be located on the island of Yeu for maintenance tasks.
With EMYN, Ocean Winds consolidates its position in a key market such as France, where it is developing or building four offshore wind farms. offshore wind farms with a combined capacity of 1.3 GW. This deployment reinforces the role of offshore wind energy in the country’s energy matrix and in the region’s climate objectives.
