One of the most common problems in facilities with floating roof storage tanks is the management of accumulated rainwater. This system, known as the Floating Roof Drain Guard, integrates hydrocarbon sensors that detect the presence of contaminants in the drain water. Upon a warning signal, the system sends real-time notifications to personnel via text message and email, and automatically closes the drain valve to prevent the release of hazardous substances.
Technology applied to safety and efficiency
The system devised by the company eliminates the need for constant supervision by on-site operators. With more than three decades of experience in terminal and pipeline operations, founder Mark Rauch identified an unmet need in the industry and designed a solution based on automation, reliability and low maintenance.
Thanks to its flow chamber equipped with adjustable sensors, the system can be configured to the desired levels of sensitivity to suit different operating conditions. This capability offers a significant advantage over traditional methods, which rely on human intervention and carry high operational risks.
Applications in multiple industrial sectors
Although it was initially designed for atmospheric storage tanks with floating roofs, it was external floating roofs, the EnviroEye system has proven its versatility in a wide range of applications, ranging from aboveground tanks (ASTs), sumps, control valves in secondary containment systems, tanker trucks, to pumping stations.
The company has also developed additional packages for operations in cold climates and is working on more advanced versions with continuous flow monitoring. This evolution seeks to meet new market demands, especially in sectors such as refining, petrochemicals, chemical storage and fuel transportation.
