Maersk has entered a new phase in maritime digitalization by deploying its OneWireless platform on 450 vessels, including both owned and chartered ships. This smart network supports multiple wireless technologies such as NB-IoT, Cat-M and LTE, and will enable thousands of IoT devices to be managed with robust connectivity from the sea.
Intelligent shipping and ship modernization
With the implementation of OneWireless, Maersk responds to the growing need for real-time monitoring, enabling constant tracking of the cargo and operational status of its vessels. This network replaces the previous 2G-based infrastructure, integrating 4G technology that improves the frequency of data transmission.

The creation of OneWireless is the result of a technical collaboration with companies such as Onomondo, Nokia, 42com Sat and Zededa, who have contributed their expertise to integrate advanced components into a stable, secure and future-proof system for global maritime trade.
The Captain Peter platform, used to monitor temperature in refrigerated containers, benefits directly from this infrastructure upgrade. By making the technological leap to 4G, information is updated more frequently and accurately, raising the level of control over cargo and reducing logistical risks.
The evolution is part of Maersk‘s commitment to optimize global logistics with smart and sustainable solutions aligned with its goal of zero net emissions by 2040.
