The forest, urban and industrialurban and industrial fires now have a new opponent: quadruped robots with remote vision and the ability to throw water at a distance of 60 meters. Unitree Robotics has implemented its latest technological solution for rescue in extreme conditions, improving the efficiency and safety of the fire department.
With a composite alloy structure, these robots withstand high temperatures and dust, climb steps up to 40 centimeters, and navigate uneven terrain. They are designed to operate in areas that are difficult for humans to access with a real-time video transmission system that enables quick decisions from remote control centers.
Quadruped robots with water cannons
[post_relacionado]The built-in high-pressure water cannon has a flow rate of 40 liters per second and can alternate between water and foam. Its 5° to 85° tilt range offers flexibility in different environments from urban to forest fires. In addition, the “self-draining” function optimizes its operability allowing continuous use with minimal waiting times.
In addition to the cannon, the quadcopters have a variant equipped with an air blower for forest fires, allowing the connection between fuel and flame to be severed without direct human intervention. This specialization makes each unit a multifunctional tool adapted to the scenario.
A waterproof interchangeable battery system allows replacement without stopping operations. This significantly extends response time, which is crucial during long missions.
Use cases and official deployment
The robots have been formally adopted by the Qingdao fire support team and deployed in real fire drills. During these exercises they not only participated in active extinguishing but also in post-fire inspection and detection of remaining heat sources.
Models such as the locally developed X30 have already been tested in Hunan province. In one of the exercises, a robot entered the elevator of a simulated shopping mall to perform environmental reconnaissance, demonstrating that its implementation goes beyond direct firefighting.
