The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) takes a decisive step in the energy transition with the construction of the first marine renewable hydrogen generation plant in Spain. This advance is part of the H2VERDE project, which has the financial backing of the Government of the Canary Islands and the European Next Generation EU funds through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
The plant will be located 1.5 kilometers off the coast of Gran Canaria. It will incorporate an offshore system based on renewable energies such as solar, wind and marine such as solar, wind and marine energy to power an electrolyzer that will separate water into hydrogen and oxygen.
