PolyCera , a PSP.US brand, has been selected to lead the second phase of the Tibet Salt Lake lithium extraction project. This development represents an expansion of treatment capacity to exceed 100,000 m³ per day (26 MGD), ensuring a continuous and efficient supply of this critical resource for the battery and renewable energy industries.
Exceptional performance in the lithium extraction project
The success of the first phase , which involved the implementation of a membrane system with a capacity of 1,900 m³/h, was crucial in the decision to continue with PolyCera. Plant operators emphasized the reliability and low maintenance of the membranes compared to conventional solutions, which led to the expansion of the project in this second phase.
[post_relacionado]In this second phase , PolyCera will deliver a complete membrane solution, including membrane elements, pressure vessels and frames, with delivery expected by the end of June 2025. With an additional capacity of 2,300 m³/h ( 14.6 MGD) , this system will expand the plant’s lithium extraction capacity, an essential element for the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy storage .
PolyCera’s ceramic membrane technology stands out for its chemical resistance and operational efficiency. Thanks to their monolithic design and high permeability, these membranes enable effective separation of magnesium hydroxide precipitates at concentrations above 700 mg/L, without the need for pretreatment.
Additionally, the membranes operate at lower temperatures, making them ideal for the extreme conditions of the Salt Lake , where winter temperatures can drop below 40°F.
