BUSS Energy’s ( BTE ) Eemshaven Terminal is implementing the WINdQUAY project to strengthen the port infrastructure in collaboration with Groningen Seaports ( GSP ). The main objective of this project is to expand the terminal to support the growing offshore wind energy sector in the North Sea.
Increased capacity with the WINdQUAY project
The development is partly funded by the European Union through the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency ( CINEA ), and the initiative focuses on improving the terminal’s cargo capacity as well as optimizing logistics for offshore energy projects .
[post_relacionado]WINdQUAY ‘s main objective is to expand the terminal’s existing infrastructure to meet the needs of the offshore wind sector. This will be achieved by strengthening the quayside areas and improving ground conditions to handle the heavy loads of wind turbine components and the vessels responsible for their installation.
The expansion will allow the dock to handle a loading capacity of up to 40 t/m², increasing operational flexibility for the installation of wind turbines and other heavy equipment. In addition, the facilities will be strengthened to accommodate the heavy-lift vessels essential for offshore projects in the region.
The WINdQUAY project is a crucial step in improving the infrastructure of the Eemshaven Bus Terminal. With the construction of another heavy-duty quay, we are increasing flexibility and creating a more efficient basis for offshore wind energy projects in the North Sea.
