Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) Australia has acquired the Axedale project , a hybrid solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage (BESS) facility. Located just 20 kilometres east of Bendigo, Victoria, the project will have a total capacity of 190 MW , with 140 MWac dedicated to solar generation and 50 MW/100 MWh for energy storage, ensuring reliable power production over a two-hour period.

The Axedale project is key to FRV Australia’s plan to establish itself as a leader in the renewable energy sector. With an estimated annual generating capacity of 369,459 MWh, this project will provide clean, renewable energy to power approximately 80,000 homes in Victoria , significantly contributing to the region’s energy transition .

Boost for Australia’s energy sector
This acquisition is part of FRV Australia’s strategy to expand its portfolio in Australia, with projects such as Terang and Gnarwarre underway. These large-scale storage projects in Victoria are being built to complement the growth of solar energy infrastructure in the region.
Furthermore, with the addition of Axedale, FRV Australia now operates eight plants with a combined capacity of nearly 1 GW, reaffirming its role as a key player in the country’s energy transition.
