On March 13, the keel-laying ceremony for the WIND Flyer, a new fast trimaran, took place at the Marsun Public Company Limited shipyard in Thailand. With this event, the shipyard began construction of this vessel designed for crew transportation in offshore operations .
Design and features of the WIND Flyer
The WIND Flyer is a 35-meter-long vessel developed by Wind Naval Architects in collaboration with Marsun Shipyard. Its semi-SWATH structure, combined with motion-damping foils, allows it to operate stably in waves up to 2.5 meters, ensuring smoother sailing and reducing crew fatigue.
[post_relacionado]Equipped with waterjet propulsion, the WIND Flyer reaches speeds of 34 knots , offering agile and efficient movement. Its design facilitates position-holding at sea, optimizing crew transfer without compromising safety.
The WIND Flyer’s interior is designed to maximize crew comfort. It features business-class seating and a 270-degree panoramic view, ensuring a superior experience on extended voyages. Furthermore, its ample cargo and fuel storage capacity allows it to undertake a variety of offshore missions.
A fast trimaran for offshore operations
The trimaran has been ordered by Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production and Uniwise Offshore, with the aim of improving the efficiency and safety of personnel transfers to offshore platforms .
With this project, Marsun Shipyard reaffirms its position as a key player in the construction of specialized vessels for the oil and gas industry, relying on innovative designs and cutting-edge technology.
