On March 4th, the start of construction of the hybrid vessel NB 977 was recorded at the VARD Shipyards facilities in Braila, Romania. This moment was marked by Roy Viggo Fjørtoft, Project Manager of Island Offshore, who had the honour of activating the cutting of the first steel plate in a ceremony attended by representatives of both companies.

The NB 977 is an Ocean Energy Construction Vessel ( OECV ) designed with state-of-the-art hybrid technology. Furthermore, its design is designated VARD 3 25 , and has been developed in close collaboration between Island Offshore and VARD, with the aim of optimising operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact on the industry.
