Tata Motors has begun the first trials of hydrogen-powered trucks . This evaluation phase seeks to analyse the commercial viability of hydrogen-powered freight vehicles as an environmentally friendly alternative.

The project is funded by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy under the National Green Hydrogen Mission , which envisages the deployment of 16 trucks with different load configurations and propulsion systems, including hydrogen internal combustion engines ( H2ICE ) and fuel cells ( FCEV ).
[post_relacionado]The initiative was launched at a ceremony chaired by India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, along with the Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi. Both highlighted hydrogen as an essential pillar in the transformation of the logistics sector and its impact on the country’s energy independence.
For its part, the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, Tata Motors, reaffirms its leadership in sustainable mobility solutions with models such as the Tata Prima H.55S and the Tata Prima H.28 . These trucks have operating ranges of up to 500 km and are equipped with cabins designed to optimize driver safety and comfort.
With a comprehensive focus on alternative fuels, the company has implemented electric mobility, CNG and LNG solutions, and currently operates a fleet of hydrogen fuel cell buses in various cities across the country.
