The company has strengthened its presence in the Indian energy market, after signing an oil export contract with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited ( BPCL ). The agreement provides for the supply of up to 6 million barrels of oil per year from 2025 and was signed in New Delhi during the India Energy Week, an important event for the industry.
A strategic oil export agreement
The contract follows a “framework” model, designed to provide flexibility in the marketing of Brazilian crude oil. This modality allows both parties to negotiate conditions and supply volumes on a regular basis, adapting to the evolution of the global market.

India, the world’s third-largest oil importer, relies on imports for 85% of its energy needs. In 2024, the country accounted for 4% of Petrobras ‘ crude oil exports, a figure that could increase with this new agreement. The sustained growth of the Indian economy and its need to diversify its sources of supply reinforce the importance of this contract for both parties.
The partnership with BPC L consolidates the commercial relationship between Brazil and India, while strengthening Petrobras’ strategy to expand its international reach in high-demand markets. With this move, the Brazilian company seeks to take advantage of opportunities in a constantly changing energy environment.
