DHL Group and Neste have decided to intensify their collaboration to advance emissions reduction in the logistics sector . The partnership aims to assess the impact of Neste’s renewable solutions, such as renewable diesel HVO100 and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), on DHL’s decarbonization strategy in air and ground transport.
A lower carbon footprint with HVO100 and SAF
DHL Group has outlined an ambitious plan to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions logistics by 2050. As part of its mid-term strategy to 2030, the company aims to electrify two-thirds of its last-mile delivery vehicles and increase the use of sustainable fuels to more than 30% across all modes of transport.

The company will supply DHL with up to 300,000 tonnes of pure SAF per year by 2030 , making a significant contribution to reducing emissions in aviation . In addition, both companies will explore the use of renewable diesel in DHL ground transportation.

Carl Nyberg, Senior Vice President of Renewable Products at Neste, said that this collaboration allows DHL to move forward as a leader in the decarbonization of transport, highlighting that its goal is to provide renewable fuels that reduce greenhouse gas emissions both on the road and in the air.
A sustainable business model
The agreement also provides for the creation of a business model to facilitate the purchase and sale of SAF , which will enable more companies to reduce their environmental impact by using sustainable fuels. In addition, DHL and Neste have worked together on the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), a system that allows for transparent reporting of emissions reductions achieved through the use of SAF.
