The giant CMA CGM has announced the development of an electric barge for river operations in Vietnam. This project aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by 778 tons per year, thus contributing to the country’s goals and to CMA CGM’s carbon neutrality objectives.

The barge’s route will be connected to Binh Duong province and the Gemalink terminal. The vessel will be powered entirely by solar-powered batteries, supported by a dedicated solar park, with the capacity to generate 1 GWh of electricity per year. In addition, the Gemalink terminal is establishing itself as a model for an eco-friendly terminal in Southeast Asia.
[post_relacionado]The partnership with Nike is present in this project, as the company is committed to using this barge to transport goods between Binh Duong and Gemalink. This agreement strengthens the commercial relationship between the parties, while supporting responsible logistics initiatives.
Furthermore, the construction of the solar park will promote job creation and economic development in Vietnam. The model implemented by the company could be replicated in other geographies, reinforcing its commitment to a greener future for maritime and river transport.
