Clean Energy and the Riverside Transit Agency ( RTA ) are teaming up on a project to design and build a state-of-the-art hydrogen fueling station. This contract was awarded following a competitive tender to improve public transportation in California.
The new Clean Energy hydrogen station
The facility will initially fuel a fleet of five hydrogen buses, growing to more than 100 vehicles over the next decade. This effort supports the RTA’s vision of providing clean and efficient public transportation, accommodating the region’s famously long routes.
[post_relacionado]Clean Energy Senior Vice President Chad Lindholm said hydrogen is the ideal proposition for long-haul travel, establishing itself as an alternative to conventional electric vehicles. “ This project reflects our commitment to fostering healthier communities by advancing clean energy solutions and is a critical milestone on our path to a zero-emission vehicle fleet ,” said Jeremy Smith, chairman of the Riverside Transit Agency board of directors.
The project is supported by a $5.1 million federal grant and adds to Clean Energy ‘s list of successes in building similar stations , such as the one recently completed in Pomona, California.
