How does the Conit Runner work?
This device is known as the Conit Runner, and it was developed in collaboration between Korean robotics company Itone and Posco E&C . Its main function is to move autonomously over wet concrete , creating precise grooves that improve adhesion between layers. These grooves reduce the need for reinforcing rods, saving up to 30% on material and speeding up construction times by 85%.

This allows it to travel at speeds of up to 16 km/h, avoiding obstacles while analysing the hardness of the concrete to ensure it is suitable for the process. In this way, it strikes a balance between efficiency and strength.
The Conit Runner aims to reduce costs, and offer a lighter and faster alternative to current methods. By avoiding extensive use of rebar and reducing hours of manual labour, this technology could look to improve how large-scale infrastructure is designed.
