Eni has announced that, after receiving environmental authorization from the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, it will soon start construction of its new biorefinery in Livorno. This plant, the third of its kind in Italy, will have a production capacity of 500,000 tons per year and will use the innovative Ecofining™ technology, developed to process renewable raw materials.

The construction, expected to be completed in 2026, is part of Eni’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This refinery will join those already operating at Porto Marghera and Gela, reinforcing the company’s commitment to decarbonization and the production of biofuels.
[post_relacionado]The plant in Livorno will produce HVO diesel, HVO naphtha and bio-GLP, complying with the requirements of the European Renewable Energy Directive. This facility will enable Eni to increase its biofuels refining capacity to more than 5 million tons per year by 2030, consolidating its position as a leader in renewable energy.
Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, highlighted the importance of this new infrastructure for the sustainable transformation of the energy sector in Italy.
