Vestas, one of the global leaders in wind energy, has secured its first order for offshore offshore turbines turbines in the United States. The company will supply 54 V236-15.0 MW turbines for the Equinor-led Empire Wind 1 project to be developed off the coast of New York. This 810 MW project represents an important step for the offshore wind energy industry in the United States and marks a milestone for the company in the offshore market.
This request finalizes the conditional agreement that was announced announced in March 2024.

This contract has the potential to transform the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT), which will be a key point for assembly and logistics activities related to the installation of the turbines.
Laura Beane, president of Vestas North America, highlighted the importance of the project, stating that it is a crucial milestone for the expansion of the U.S. offshore market. and underscored the company’s commitment to clean energy solutions. The partnership with Equinor is key to consolidating the advancement of offshore wind energy in the region.
Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in 2026 and the project is expected to be completed in 2027, helping New York meet its renewable energy goals and providing clean, sustainable electricity to thousands of homes. In addition, this project will contribute to the development of the offshore wind energy supply chain in the United States, consolidating Vestas as a key player in this sector.
