The 400-tonne backhoe is equipped with a Liebherr autonomous cable reel, an innovative element essential for future BHP projects and its fleet. This technological solution improves machine maneuverability and enhances operator safety while optimizing productivity in the dynamic and complex mining sector.

For BHP, the electrification of its mining fleetis a fundamental part of its strategy to achieve net zero greenhousegas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Among its main objectives is the performance of its operations and meeting its iron ore mine schedules.
