The NATO Procurement and Support Agency NATO SUPPORT AND PROCUREMENT AGENCY (NSPA) has selected Airbus Helicopters to lead a vital concept study within the Next Generation Rotorcraft Capability (NGRC) project. This 13-month collaboration, involving RTX’s Collins Aerospace and Raytheon, along with MBDA, will explore two innovative concepts for medium-sized, multi-role military helicopters.
Commenting on the project, Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are very excited about the project.This initiative represents an excellent opportunity to channel our vast experience in designing helicopters for Europe’s armed forces. Our goal is to forge a truly European solution that not only responds to NATO requirements, but also strengthens European industrial sovereignty and preserves essential engineering competencies. ”

NSPA coordinates concept study with key partners
For her part, Stacy A. Cummings, CEO of the NSPA, emphasized the importance of the study: “The launch of the fifth concept study is a key development that reflects our commitment to innovation and the sustained development of air capabilities for allied nations. Our strategy includes the award of three simultaneous contracts that will maximize participation and industry expertise, thus offering a broader spectrum of possible concepts to our multinational customers. ”.
The study will involve the active participation of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland and Italy and will address key areas such as helicopter design, systems integration, advanced connectivity, weapons systems, avionics and sensors.
It will also focus on the development of modular and multi-mission helicopters that will be fully interoperable with NATO standards, standing out for their high connectivity and robustness in communications.
