Olympic Boreas vessel design and system
The design of the Olympic Boreas includes a hull solution specially adapted to face challenging sea conditions, thus ensuring the safety and comfort of crew and passengers. The configuration of the four main thrusters, two at the stern and two at the bow, allows the vessel to be remarkably agile and efficient in walk-to-work operations, significantly reducing fuel consumption during dynamic positioning.
The ship’s hybrid power system incorporates a combination of batteries and batteries and variable speed diesel generators, which maximizes fuel efficiency. It is also prepared for the use of methanol and has room for an expansion of battery capacity, which could enable all-electric operations in the near future, in line with the ship’s goals of zero emissions.
