In response to increased trade demand, Maersk inaugurated maritime service connecting China with Bangladesh. This new route seeks to strengthen trade relations, particularly at the retail level, by adding capacity and efficiency to the existing maritime network between the two countries.
In addition, the SH3 itinerary covers several key ports. Departing from the port of Shanghai, the service calls at Xiamen, Kaohsiung, Nansha and Tanjung Pelepas, before arriving in Chittagong, Bangladesh. On the way back, the route includes a stop at Tanjung Palapas, a hub for long-distance connections to Europe.
Optimization of existing maritime service
[post_relacionado]The introduction of SH3 is accompanied by modifications to the SH1 and SH2 services, with the aim of optimizing coverage and loading options in China. This allows multiple shipping alternatives to be offered during the week from Shanghai, Nansha and Ningbo directly to Bangladesh, providing greater flexibility and logistical efficiency.

Nikhil D’Lima, Head of Maersk in Bangladesh, also emphasized the growing demand for Bangladeshi textiles and garments in Western markets, which reinforces the need for this redesigned network.
Bangladesh’s textile industry is a vital part of the country’s economy, comprising more than four thousand factories that supply more than 100 international brands and export to more than 150 countries. The robust growth of this industry underscores the importance of having an efficient and flexible supply chain, aspects that the new SH3 service promises to reinforce.
