The Hai Long project has achieved the installation of its first offshore substation, with a total capacity of 1,022 MW, including two wind farms: Hai Long 2 wind farm with 532 MW of power and Hai Long 3 wind farm with 512 MW. Finally, there are two smaller wind farms, the Hai Long 2 subdivisions with capacities of approximately 300 MW and 232 MW.
The Hai Long project and its energy capabilities
The project will have 73 wind turbines. Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD mounted on three-legged jacket foundations and two offshore substations. Over the past weekend, CDWE’s Green Jade vessel installed the first substation at the site, located at a distance of approximately 45-70 kilometers off the coast of Changhua. This operation was announced and registered on May 20 through the company’s official social networks.
[post_relacionado]Now, the top of the substation, which measures 52 meters long, 38 meters wide and 32 meters high, is supported on a four-legged base that was installed in early May. Responsibility for delivering these substations falls to a consortium comprising Semco Maritime and PTSC Mechanical & Construction(PTSC M&C), which have taken on the challenge of contributing to the 1,022 MW Hai Long offshore wind project.
The first steel for the structure, weighing approximately 2,800 tons, was sectioned last November 2022. CDWE also signed a contract for the transportation and installation of the foundations, turbines and offshore substations for the three wind farms that make up the Hai Long project. And today, the installation of the Green Jade vessel will continue at the Hai Long offshore wind farm until 2026.
The operation of the project
The Hai Long project, which is expected to come online between 2025 and 2026, is owned by a consortium consisting of Northland Power, Yushan Energy, Mitsui & Co. and Gentari, who are committed to the development and operation of this innovative initiative.
The substations will be equipped with two Palfinger rigid jib cranes, which have a reach of 26 meters, as well as four liferaft davits and four fixed jib cranes. This system will be used to lift materials and tools from a crew transfer vessel(CTV) to the marine substation.
