Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions (GDG) of the Venterra Group, will perform work as services for Baltica 1, highlighting geophysical and geotechnical studies in the initial phases of the wind farm development. This new contract is with PGE Baltica, a Polish energy company.
Phases for the execution of the wind project
Among the key points of the agreement, GDG will carry out tasks ranging from the creation of a geographic terrain model to the conceptual design of the foundations, essential for the advanced design phases of Baltica 1.
[post_relacionado]For more than a decade, Venterra has had an effective presence in Poland, consolidated with a local office since 2022. This has enabled the company to lead in the provision of specialized technical services for numerous offshore wind farm projects in the region, including Baltica 2 and Baltica 3.
The accumulated knowledge and detailed understanding of the geophysical conditions of the Baltic Sea, acquired through these projects, equip Venterra Geoscience and Venterra Design with advantages to meet the challenges of the Baltica 1 project.
GDG’s objective in services for Baltica 1
Paul Doherty, Venterra’s executive vice president of engineering, expressed his enthusiasm for the selection for this project. “We are honored that PGE Baltica has recognized our technical capabilities and the range of specialized services we offer, from conceptualization to detailed design. We are committed to supporting Poland in its goal of reaching 5.9 GW capacity by 2030 and look forward to continuing our support in expanding its energy capacities.“
The Baltica 1 project will have a capacity of 900 MW and will be located 80 km off the Polish coast. This project that PGE is developing in the Baltic Sea. Located in Central Shoal, north of Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, the project already has the necessary siting permits and connection agreements in place, positioning it as a key link in the expansion of the offshore wind sector in Poland.
