Fortescue and Gladstone to develop electrolyzer plant
The support of the Queensland Government was crucial to the realization of this project, providing essential resources such as an electrical substation, road infrastructure, communications systems and drinking water supply, as well as land.
The Australian government contributed an investment of A$44 million from an initiative dedicated to promoting modern manufacturing. The establishment of the electrolyzer plant is recorded as the first stage of the Green Energy Manufacturing Center that will Fortescue has planned for Gladstone, which will also include hydrogen system testing facilities and a specific green hydrogen project. The construction of the project generated more than 100 jobs, and the completed center is expected to create more than 300 direct and indirect jobs.
