Intelligent Energy’s patented IE-DRIVE system offers a comprehensive solution for automakers as the most compact and powerful hydrogen fuel cell available on the market. This platform, designed and tested by a British company, was presented during an event at Intelligent Energy’s headquarters, demonstrating its effectiveness in a sport utility vehicle provided by Changan UK.

With a generating capacity of 157 kW, it outperforms any other application currently available in the commercial car market. The company has succeeded in reducing the number of components and the bill of materials of its fuel cell system, which increases efficiency and reduces production costs. The result is a complete system, designed to suit the needs of automakers in terms of design and performance.
Intelligent Energy projects that its IE-DRIVE system will cost around GBP 100 per kW by the end of the decade, making it competitive with BEV and ICE solutions. This breakthrough is the result of a four-year project called ESTHER, which was supported by the Advanced Propulsion Center (APC) and the collaboration of several leading companies in the automotive industry.
