In an interview, Mario Martinez Cruz, TAR Key Account Manager, shared the company’s vision on the importance of selecting appropriate coatings and their impact on the useful life of structures and carbon footprint.

Martinez Cruz explained that the choice of coating material is a determining factor in the protection of metal and concrete structures, because it directly influences their longevity, long-term maintenance costs and frequency of replacement. In addition, this process has important environmental implications: “From the manufacture of coatings to their transportation and application, each stage contributes to the carbon footprint,” he mentioned.

For large structures or structures exposed to corrosive environments, such as high salinity, humidity or chemical compounds, solutions are required that allow a fast, durable and efficient application, both in the workshop and in the field. Likewise, the correct sealing of joints in exposed pipelines requires materials with high adhesion and resistance.
The company’s carbon footprint measurement considers factors such as energy consumption and the use of polluting fuels throughout the process. To minimize these effects, the company has developed high-solids, water-based coatings with low solvent content, reducing pollutant emissions during application and product life.
