On July 1, the steel cutting ceremony for the NB 983 was held at the Vard Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam, marking the official start of its construction. This offshore wind farm support vessel (CSOV) is the third of its kind built by VARD for the Norwegian company Rem Offshore.

The new vessel is based on the VARD 4 19 design, a platform developed specifically for operations in the demanding offshore renewable energy environment. This sister vessel to REM Wind, delivered in April 2024, will offer high maneuverability and energy efficiency, reinforcing Rem Offshore’s strategy of operational sustainability.

Kristian Stavset, the shipping company’s project manager, was in charge of initiating the cutting process, emphasizing the company’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in the maritime industry.
This project consolidates the alliance between Rem Offshore and the VARD group, part of Fincantieri, and reflects the growing demand for naval solutions adapted to the growth of the offshore sector.
