The collaboration between GSE Solutions and NuScale Power records the simulation for industrial-scale hydrogen generation. Using its JTopmeret modeling platform, GSE has created a power plant simulator based on reversible solid oxide fuel cells(RSOFCs) integrated with small modular reactors(SMRs), allowing it to explore new operational configurations to generate hydrogen more efficiently.
Hydrogen production breakthrough
GSE Solutions, with more than five decades of experience in engineering and simulation services for the nuclear sector, has incorporated its JADE suite in this project. This tool has been to redesign the control logic in steam supply, heat recovery and hydrogen compression systems. The result: a high-fidelity simulation environment that communicates directly with NuScale’s SMR control room simulator in Oregon.
[post_relacionado]On the other hand, NuScale Power has launched initiatives aimed at integrating hydrogen production into its modular nuclear solutions. With the integration of high-temperature steam electrolysis, its upgraded simulator is capable of dynamically evaluating configurations that respond to industrial requirements exceeding 200 metric tons of hydrogen per day.
The joint SMR/RSOFC model developed allows NuScale to test operational and energy storage strategies, providing a technical pathway to meet its decarbonization goals. This type of simulation not only increases operational flexibility, but positions both companies at the forefront of integrated energy systems for a low-carbon future.
