Oceans of Energy’ s Nymphaea Aurora offshore solar farm is ready to be towed to the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm, marking a breakthrough in the integration of solar and wind power in the North Sea.

Dutch company Oceans of Energy has completed the port assembly of its floating solar farm in the Port of Amsterdam. This system is larger than a soccer field, designed to operate in demanding marine conditions and to operate alongside the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm, managed by the Shell-Eneco alliance(CrossWind).
[post_relacionado]This offshore solar farm will be installed 18.5 km off the Dutch coast during the summer of 2025. The integration aims to increase the efficiency of the electricity supply at an operational site, where the wind farm generates more than 3.3 TWh annually.
The dockside assembly was completed in just three days using prefabricated floating solar units, laying a scalable foundation for future industrial deployments. This modular model makes it possible to implement marine solar farms locations more quickly and with less logistical impact.
Agencies such as the Ministry of Climate Policy and the RVO have expressed their support for the project, highlighting its potential to position the Netherlands as a world leader in floating solar power.
This development was inspired by the water lily, ‘Nymphaea Aurora‘, which floats on the surface of the sea as a natural solar collector. This biological reference gives the project its name and defines its philosophy: light, efficient structures harmonized with the marine environment.
Oceans of Energy’s commercial partner, CrossWind, is committed to integrated technologies that drive renewable production. The joint use of solar and wind represents a concrete path towards the industrialization of clean offshore energy.
