Airloom Energy has begun construction of its first modular wind turbine pilot plant near Rock River, Wyoming. The project, backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, aims to revolutionize the nation’s energy independence and security through a compact, efficient and quick-to-install design.
A scalable plant with modular wind turbines
As electricity demand rises driven by data center growth and digitization, Airloom proposes an adaptable, low-cost solution: rectangular-architecture turbines with higher power generation capabilities in less space. Such technology, mass-produced in the United States, enables accelerated deployment and reduces the levelized cost of energy(LCOE).
[post_relacionado]Airloom turbines are assembled with smaller parts, which facilitates transportation and installation even in locations with geographical or regulatory constraints, such as mountainous areas, airports or military bases. With a modular structure and local manufacturing, they are designed to respond to critical contexts with limited infrastructure.
This pilot project will be completed before 2027, when the commercial demonstration phase will begin. With the financial support of the State of Wyoming and the Department of DefenseAirloom will evaluate its power curve, required maintenance and feasibility for land and sea applications.
